The Rooney Farm

Vermont’s history meets trails

What is it?

The Rooney Farm is STP’s newest trail network coming to you starting in 2026. A historic dairy farm, the Rooney Farm has been home to generations of farmers in the Mud City region of Morrisville, Vermont. STP is excited to diversify this parcel, combining farming with mountain biking. Picture this:

  • 10-15 new miles of singletrack
  • 50%+ advanced terrain. Think rollers, rocks, technical turns
  • Beginner terrain for everyone in the family

What kind of trails will there be?

Over 50% of this network will be aimed at advanced directional riding. Say see ya later to the bi-directional trails you find in Cady Hill, and say hello to progression and skill-building trails. We’re aiming to give you trails to climb with ease, and rollers, rock gardens, technical bits and pieces, and optional features you can sharpen your teeth with on the way down. Tech not your thing? We’ll be working in progression flow as well.
In addition to the advanced trails, we’ll be offering a little something for everyone with beginner loops, skills progression areas, and intermediate terrain to help you, your friends, and family enjoy a variety of terrain.

How are we making this happen?

We are incredibly fortunate to be working with the landowners under a land use agreement contract. We want to do this well, so we’re taking time to hire one of our favorite hometown trail builders, Hardy Avery, who also helped to found STP way back in 2000. Thanks to careful planning, delineation, and more, we are coming at this project looking at the whole picture of trails, parking, community, and more. To make this project both realistic and transparent, we are going to be completing The Rooney Farm in three phases over the next 3-5 years.
In order to move forward with this project, we need YOUR help. STP needs to raise over $150,000 to begin Phase 1. This funding is integral, as we can’t start without it!

2025

Planning and more planning!

We want to do this right. In 2025, we’ve been planning with landowners, partners, and more to see how we can start off with the best trail network in our area! This has involved copious amounts of conversations, walks through the woods, and more. At the end of 2025, we’re finally to a place where we can share our plan.

Phase 1- 2026

The Fun Begins!

In 2026 STP is planning to break ground on two mapped climbing trails and two advanced descending trails. To prep for this, we’ll be filling in gaps on wetland studies, surveying the property boundaries, and ensuring you have somewhere to park! We need your help to get there. STP needs to raise over $150,000 to move forward with phase 1.

Phase 2, 2027-28

Something for Everyone

As we enter 2027 and 2028, STP will be working to create more diverse down-oriented trails, a connector trail, and a skills area for you to hone your skills!

Phase 3, 2028-30

Let’s put a Bow on it and Shred

2028-2030 will include filling out the rest of the network with a few more downs, connectors, and ensuring we have all of the pieces for you to have the best riding experience possible!

The one piece that is missing currently is funding.

We need your support to help make this dream a reality. STP is looking to raise $150-200,000 for phase 1 of The Rooney Farm. Will you donate to help this dream become a reality?
