Do you love the trails and want to tell everyone about how great they are? Are you willing to help guide people on trail etiquette? Are you happy to stop and say hello when it seems like someone is lost?

If you answered yes to these questions, then you may be a great fit to become a Stowe Trails Partnership (STP) Trail Ambassador!

What is a Trail Ambassador?

Trail Ambassadors are a crucial component of STP’s outreach and education efforts on the trails. They engage with folks at a grassroots level in the community, helping ensure everyone is having a good time and being respectful while out on the trails. We look to Trail Ambassadors to engage with users and help us grow our membership by educating folks about who we are and what we do. They have a positive and friendly attitude and knowledge of Stowe’s trails. More specifically, Trail Ambassadors help spread the Ride With Gratitude message:

Trail Ambassador Responsibilities and Requirements:

Our current objective is to have Trail Ambassadors present at Cady Hill. Trail Ambassadors should be ready to meet and greet, strike up a conversation, create relationships, and share the stoke. 

• Be prepared to be an active ambassador from May 1 – October 31.
• Know and understand Ride With Gratitude and help explain trail etiquette. The trails are on Town-owned land and we must respect the fact that these trails are a privilege for all users. The Town of Stowe has the authority to close down the parking lots and trails if trail users don’t follow trail etiquette or remain respectful. 
• Encourage folks to become STP members. Take time to explain membership structure/pricing, the incredible value of membership (the benefits that are included), what their membership dues pay for, and how membership allows them to join a passionate community of like-minded people!
• Promote STP on social media. 
• If folks seem lost or don’t know what to ride, help them find their way (e.g. tell them about your favorite loop to ride and point them in the right direction).
• Host at least one Trail Sit at the Mountain Road Cady Hill trailhead. 
• While on the trails, wear an STP shirt/swag to be easily identifiable. 
• Pass out STP stickers!

Suggested questions to ask when engaging with folks on the trails:

• Where are you from/Are you local or visiting?
• Do you ride here often?
• Have you heard of STP? Are you familiar with their work?
• Are you an STP/VMBA member?

Trail Ambassador Rewards

• Free STP gear (t-shirt and hat)
• Personal exposure through STP marketing (social media, email newsletter)
• An opportunity to add nonprofit experience to your resume
